The Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area is sometimes called “Paganistan” – we’ve got a tremendous number of Pagan groups and resources for our size.
I’m not going to list every group in town (many of whom are also listed on Witchvox’s Minnesota listings), but we do want to mention groups that provide public group rituals, classes, or other Seeker-friendly resources.
This page was last updated October 11th, 2009 – please let me know if there are updates you’re aware of.
Announcements and communication:
- The TCPagans, Twin Cities Pagans, and Paganistan lists on Yahoo!Groups get many local announcements (and are good places to ask questions about making connections with general types of groups.)
- The Twin Cities Pagans list is generally the most widely useful. They also have a Facebook group.
- The Upper Midwest Pagan Alliance hosts two calendars: one of general Pagan events and one of public rituals. (Groups input their own information, so not everything may be here!)
- There is a monthly area Pagan news zine provided by CUUPS-Twin Cities.
Stores:
Pagan stores can be a great way to start making connections – all of ours host a number of classes and gatherings, have bulletin boards – and of course, the staff often know a lot of people in town. Our metro area has three Pagan-focused stores (plus a few others, not listed here, that have books, items, and other good stuff that’s also of interest.)
- Eye of Horus is on Lyndale Ave in Minneapolis, between 25th and 26th Street.
- Magus Books is in the Dinkytown area, near the east bank University of Minnesota campus.
There is also the Sacred Paths community center at 777 Raymond Street in St. Paul. They host a wide range of events, including discussions, networking events (there’s a group + seeker meet and greet every 3 months), and also host some workshops and concerts.
Networking, classes, and other events
Several groups in town offer casual conversations and networking chances at different times. Check the schedules at all three stores for events hosted there, as well.
- The Coffee Cauldron meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month at the Artist’s Grind coffee shop (around the corner from Sacred Paths).
- Reconstructionist meetups and networking gatherings are listed on the MN Heathens site
- There’s a Witches Meet Up group in town. Explore the site for other topics of interest as well.
- Several groups offer series of introductory classes at local stores. Among these are:
- Circle of the Phoenix (our parent group, who offer a series of 5 classes a couple of times a year)
- The Coven of the Standing Stones (who offer a longer series of 26 classes every year over the winter and spring)
Open rituals and events:
- Start by checking out the public rituals calendar hosted by Upper Midwest Pagan Alliance.
- Twin Cities Pagan Pride takes place every fall. Jenett is on the board and glad to answer questions about it.
- There are a number of reasonably local festivals or intensives: The Earth House Midsummer Gather, Harmony Tribe‘s Sacred Harvest festival, and the Reclaiming-based Winter Witch Camp.
